The initial Vision behind Drone Commander

Setting aside this game is RPG,RTS and VN. It can be valuable comparing the VN to get an idea what sets it apart.

For a mid/high-level VN, you might have a small number of main animated characters and a bigger number of just pictures. For a main character, like Fel; they might have a special scene like this, but just as a single picture (and usually of lower quality); which is still cool, they make it work with music, atmosphere and text overlay.

But in drone commander, when you get this bed scene with Fel, Tabby, Kira and others it's actually fully animated; she talks, smiles, kisses, ears twitch and so on. There is dynamic interactions, zooming, cutscenes, overlays, reactive choices and a ton more. The visual Novel is the most visually catching and captivating (as it should be), the RPG gives you that extra sense of dimensionality, exploration, battle and adds agency and realism to all the characters; (if this was just a VN, it gets boring just seeing them standing, sitting and not actually doing anything.)

The RTS adds depth, and a sense of perspective, when combined with the RPG you have a feeling of how high the stakes are and how important things are. This has been the vision for drone commander from the beginning.

Originally when I built Amu AI, and then Fel - I wanted to make it a simple VN romance exploration - but I just couldn't bring myself to release it because I felt - as deep as the dialogue may be; the world isn't real, because I can't see it, touch it, interact with it; be part of the larger picture and so on.

Ultimately I think in the end (in my mind) this is what will set Drone Commander apart, YES WE ALL WANT TO ROMANCE 👀🔥🥵, but it makes it so much more satisfying and believable when we see them, ourselves interacting in a wider dynamic universe.
